Activities for Younger Gamers
CaptainCon 2024 marks the launch of a new addition - Kids Cove. This is a track of events and Captain’s Log achievements set up specifically for our younger gamers attending with their parents. We’ll be growing this over the coming years, but we think attendees 12 and under will like what we have already. Please note that all of these are resources and activities for children to do WITH their parent/guardian. We can’t provide childcare and children should not be left unattended. Here’s a taste of some of what you can look forward to:
Kids Cove Activity Table - we’ve set aside a table space for younger attendees that includes things like Legos and crafting supplies for when you need to get some hands-on play. Grab a map making kit and make your own pirate treasure map or chart your fantasy world; relax and build a Lego house or robot; and more. You can also pick up a scavenger hunt list at the activity table.
Scavenger Hunt - yes, a scavenger hunt. We’ll be hiding rubber duckies throughout the convention space. Attendees 12 and under can earn special Captain’s Log achievements only available to them by finding these ducks and bringing a completed scavenger hunt form back to the Captain’s Log table.
Paint and Take Achievement - attendees 12 and under and their parent or guardian who participate in a Paint and Take event can earn a special achievement in the Captain’s Log for bonus points.
Dedicated Board Game Collection - in addition to the main Board Game Library collection, we’ve set aside a collection of board games designed for younger gamers (game age ranges under 18) to make sure there’s always a good selection available and appropriate for younger players
Scheduled Game Sessions and Events - check the event schedule for events marked “All Ages” to find organized game events that will appeal to younger gamers.
